Hosting and Partnerships with other organizations

DORF partnered with Bat City Review and The Texas Coalition to Abolish the Death Penalty to present “REMEDY: An Art Show and Fundraiser”, an art show and auction showcasing pieces by artists on Texas’s Death Row. Proceeds from the auction benefitted TCADP.

DORF has also hosted private events and community get togethers.

Voter Registration

DORF worked with Volunteer Deputy Registrars during the 2018 midterm election to offer visible, community focused voter registration at our events. Working with Big Medium and our June 2018 artist Angry Cloud + Descnd, DORF brought VDRs and voting artwork to Big Medium’s open studios evening where we got over 80 Texans registered to vote.

We also partnered with Register2Vote.org and their director Jeremy Smith to showcase their platform that allows users to facilitate voter registration without needing to be trained as Voter Deputy Registrars (VDRs).

Donations to Non-Profits and Organizations

Each exhibition is paired up with a specific non-profit or organization that is often chosen by the artists exhibiting or by the themes and subject matter of the exhibitions. 10% of all sales are donated to the chosen organization.

So far DORF has donated to:

Refugee Services of Texas - a Texas non-profit welcoming refugees, immigrants, and other displaced peoples and supports them in integrating and thriving in their new communities.

Center for Youth Wellness - a non-profit that focuses on testing, diagnosing and treating children who have experienced serious trauma.
